Liquorice rhizomes Tincture

Glycyrrhiza glabra

Liquorice is one of the most commonly used herbs in the world. It supports the adrenal glands, making it useful in conditions of exhaustion and long term stress. It contains plant oestrogens which can help menopausal and menstrual problems. Liquorice is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and soothing herb useful for peptic ulcers, gastritis, indigestion, dry irritating coughs, pharyngitis and laryngitis. Finally, it is a gentle laxative. Suitable for children.

Avoid in pregnancy, breast-feeding or if taking digoxin. Do not take if suffering from high blood pressure or a heart disorder. Liquorice may increase the effects of synthetic hormones - seek advice therefore if taking HRT, the contraceptive pill or steroids before using. Best avoided in potassium deficiency, anaemia and bile stones. Seek advice in these situations. Short-term usage recommended.
