This South American herb is an uplifting and energising tonic, and has been used traditionally as an aphrodisiac. It may be used for both men and women, and can be helpful for menopausal problems in addition to menstrual headaches. It is a urinary disinfectant and a gentle laxative. It combines well with saw palmetto as a male reproductive tonic, and with oats, vervain or St John's wort for debility and depression.
