Bistort is a powerful astringent herb for treating diarrhoea, mouth ulcers, sore throats, spongy gums and upper respiratory catarrh. It combines well with myrrh and marigold for gum problems as a mouthwash.Do not take for more than a few weeks at a time. Persistent diarrhoea should always be investigated by your GP. Chronic gum problems should be seen by your dentist.
